Sponsor a Girls Child – FAQs

What is Sponsor a Girl Child about?

The main objective is to advance women and girls’ education in Africa. We provide opportunities for girls to continue formal education and build facilities to allow women to learn vocational skills to sustain them and their families. Ultimately, we empower women and girls to become more self aware of their position as women and the choices that are available to them.  Currently we are sponsoring girls in Ghana, Liberia and Togo.

How are we different to other sponsoring schemes?

Our scheme gives you the opportunity to only sponsor a girl and our emphasis is on education. You also have the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with the girl you sponsor through writing. The advantage is that you are able to see the difference you are making.

How much will it cost?

With just £5 a month you can make a real difference and help cover the tuition fees of one of our girls.  Larger donations will go even further: £10 a month will keep a girl in primary school and £13 a month in secondary school. This money will cover the cost of tuition fees as well as school materials, schools uniform and administration fees. You can also send gifts to your sponsor child.

How long do I have to commit to this girl?

We ask you to commit for at least a year. However, if you are unable to do that, we also welcome one off donations for this project.

How will I measure the contribution I am making towards the life of the young person?

We make regular evaluations of the girl’s progress and you will receive regular news from your sponsor child as our newsletter covers our work in various countries. You can also be in contact with your sponsor child if you wish.

How will I know if the money is being spent correctly?

We keep clear records on each girl we work with. This way we are able to give you an up to date account of the money going towards a particular child.

I would like to sponsor a girl child, so what’s next?
