Make a Move in August

Posted by Coman Communications on July 24, 2012

The Women’s Empowerment Project is encouraging women to get moving over the summer.

A tennis Club, Sutton Churches Tennis Club, in Gander Green Lane, is running a series of courses over the August period.   Between Monday 6 and Friday 10 August, and Monday 13 and Friday 17 August, there are free courses taking place between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

They also have a six week tennis course for adults when they join the club – a temporary membership offer for eight weeks will cost £40.  The next course starts on 31 July at 7.00pm to 8.30pm.

Junior summer holiday membership costs just £10 and there are free junior club sessions from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

Worth checking out – so for more information, contact Kirsty Garrett, membership secretary and coach on 020 8274 0630 or email info@clubtennis.co.uk.

Six achieve swimming success

Posted by Coman Communications on July 23, 2012

Six women took part in The Women’s Empowerment Project Make a Move initiative and learnt to swim.   The free course, supported by the People’s Health Trust, taught participants how to swim a width unaided.    One participant said they were now looking forward to the summer holidays, and instead of watching their children and family in the water, they would be able to join them.

Twelve ladies are a third of the way through TWEP’s 12 week swimming course.  The lessons take place at Morden Park baths and all taking part are developing their confidence in the water.

The Make a Move project will be announcing information about cycling opportunities soon, so if you are interested in learning to cycle, or know someone who is, keep in touch for further news.
