Posted by communityprospects on February 13, 2013

The Women’s Empowerment Project will be holding an Information Day on the 23rd of Februrary, at Putney Library.

Shalom House Project is one of TWEP’s latest international development programs. Shalom House Project will  provide a refuge for sex workers in Ghana; the project will target girls between the ages of 13-23 who are currently engaged in the trade.

Shalom House will provide counselling, health screening and vocational skills for those young girls and women who want to change their lifestyle and acquire new skills in order to earn alternative incomes.

TWEP also hopes to provide a network of support for these young girls and raise awareness of the sex trade in Ghana.

The Information event will  provide details about the project objectives and  volunteering placements  that will be available for  6 months – 12 months on the project. Volunteers will play a key role in the implementation of Shalom House, utilizing their  skills in the management of the day to day activities or the direct support of the beneficiaries.
